Terrestrial and Marine Ecology Surveys in Tunisia
Ecology surveys in Tunisia describe a site’s habitats and species before a project, for the EIE (environmental impact assessment) or for lender requirements. AHEC’s ecologists carry out land and marine surveys, assess impacts and propose avoidance, mitigation and offset measures, taking into account protected areas, wetlands (Ramsar sites), the Mediterranean coast, IFC PS6 and World Bank ESS6.

Frequently asked questions
Why does an impact assessment need an ecological baseline?
It describes the habitats and species present before the project, identifies protected species and sensitive areas, and lets us propose suitable avoidance and mitigation measures.
Do you carry out marine surveys?
Yes: sediment sampling, Posidonia seagrass monitoring, plankton, underwater video and seawater quality, for ports, dredging and coastal projects.
How many field seasons are needed?
It depends on the species and the file’s requirements: one visit may be enough for a small site, while migratory birds or bats often need several seasons.
